There was some Lutwaffe support but not nearly enough to stem off the Allied invasion of Normandy. With day bombings by the Americans and night time by the British the Lutwaffe became sorely crippled. The 2 front war against Germany terribly weakened Germany especially its Luftwaffe by the successful bombing of German industries as well.

Not much Luftwaffe support as the Allies controlled the airspace. The combined affect of Allied bombing of munition plants and manufacturing facilities in the Fatherland and introduction of newer fighter aircraft (ie P51, upgraded Spitfires, etc) by the Allies was effective in suppressing Axis airpower.

Only two Messersmitts made a run at the normandy beaches, the air was dominated by allied aircraft.

there was hardly any German air support and the few German airplanes that did show up at the Normandy beach were welcomed by the AA guns from hundreds of allied ships.
