My boyfriend telling me what to wear - advice?
Its like this - i'm a 28 year old woman who works as a PA in London. i'm trying to change jobs and am going to wear a smart skirt suit for my interviews. However, this means i'll be wearing stockings and my boyfriend dosen't like the idea coz he thinks the interviewer(s) will be more interested in my choice of hosiery than my brain! I wouldn't wear seamed ones but i would be wearing a suspender belt - what should i do and would stayups be better? surely suspenders aren't that visible under a skirt?
My idea was to go with a grey skirt suit (tailored) - the skirt is approx. 3 inch above the knee with plain black stockings and sensible low(ish) heel?
So you all know, my first interview is actually next Friday so gotta get things prepared! All comments welcomed. Thanks x

Gaaaaaaasp ..................!!!!!! The tailored grey skirt suit sounded totally bang on until you mentioned that the skirt is 3 inches above the knee. No, no, no - no more than one inch above but preferably ON the knee if you want to look both professional and a lady. Not black stockings either (your suspender belt will show through a tailored skirt and look uber trashy). Pick some feminine pale coloured lace top hold-ups instead. I think if you go 'nice girl' on your suit and hosiery, you can afford then to vamp it up with some killer heels.

Best of luck - hope all goes well for you.

Okay, in my opinion I would wear a longer skirt. I understand that you are trying to look professional in what you have but your boyfriend is somewhat right. Men do tend to look on what you are dressed, I mean come on, what do they do when you walk into a crowed room. Some women may be offended in your choice. You may believe that you look the part but what others do think is what gets you the job or not.

I agree... Knee length or pant suit... Good Luck with it

Never EVER wear a shirt for work at all. Trousers have served me well in getting and keeping my last 2 and current job
