Getting your first apartment is fun but can be difficult. When your new the landlords can really trick you. Make sure you know what exactly the owner pays and what you pay when it comes to heat, electricity, etc. Take pictures of the apartment to show the condition and get the landlord to sign the pictures. Make sure to go over expectations, such as who mows the lawn if you have lawn, the general upkeep etc. Also learn what rules you have to abide by, like if your in a city, what time you have to keep in down in order not to be called in by the cops, usually 11pm. Rent should always be your main priority, as soon as you get your paycheck, take the rent money out of it and give it to the Landlord.
For everything else, budget, budget budget. Always put away at least 10% for a rainy day. Honestly, sometimes things just come up when you least expect them.
The easiest way to save money is don't have that starbucks coffee in the morning, stay in at home and cook your own meals.
Your family can help you alot at the beginning with hand me down things to fill the apartment, if your needing something and don't have the money to buy new, consider buying at second hand stores. Usually you can find good quality there for much lower prices.
Also when your first moving into an apartment, there are huge fees to hook up your phone and cable. In Canada these can be $60 - $80. So I would consider going without cable for a couple of months if you can.
Good Luck,

.Be responsible- keep a roof over you head, make a list of things you need and there cost- Example rent, food, travel (bus /car).
Have a Saving/Checking account before you move out,
Find a Church- Join a church- you will be surprise how the people/pastor in the church can help you find a room to rent or get a job. Stay connected to a group ( church ). The churches have teenage counselor and teens programs.
If you are going to live on your own-KNOW YOUR EXPENSE.

Manage your money well.
Buy only the things you REALLY need.
Save as much money as you can.
I wouldn't worry about shopping, only for groceries, until you are able to pay all of you bills on time all the time.
There will be a lot of unexpected exspenses, so save your money when you can. Youy should only buy what you need at first, so you can save money for Unexpected exspenses.

programs? to sign up.
this is an abomination. You should have NO rights to get welfare or unemployment. You should have a job and pay your own way.
people who STEAL from Government welfare are THIEVES of those that pay taxes.
expenses! first and last month and security deposit as well as other deposits upon agreement. word of advice stay at home and obey the rules until after you finish college and training to get a better job. poverty is the legacy of all Minimum wage jobs. Work at minimum wage jobs only as temporary or part time, unless your pay turns to salary and you get really good pay raises.
best place to shop if you are poor is salvation army, Goodwill or deseret industries.
unexpected expenses. Flat tires for the car, major insurance premiums, EVEN toiltet paper. LOL good luck in paying for cable and GAS
if your car loses its transmission good luck getting another car that runs or spend the next 3 years paying for it on a credit card account. oh wait, good luck paying the credit card off before your call falls apart, again and again and again.
