When a player signs a contract for XX.X million, this is not money in one lump sum, and is contingent up on many factors including his ability to play, the years he plays, and even the teams standings. The money level is a VALUE attributed to the Highest end that the player can make over the period of the contract.

When Player is considered "free", this means that he is free to go to any club and sign a contract. FREE means that his contract iwth the originating club is ended, and no more money is going to be paid from it.

1.A % does go to an agent and to the club n prob to a lawyer as well and then a % goes to the player. It depends on how many people he has working for him.You will notice a lot of people have a family member who plays the part of an agent just to keep the money in the family. One the player leaves they no longer pay money to that club n the same thing goes for when there contract is up they no longer get money from that player.
2.The money goes to the next club he decides to go to.not the 1 he has left or was with.
Sometime it's the other way around and the club or team pays for the player to be there. It depends really what u r referring to.

1. They go by the money the player gets, the 1st club simply doesn't owe him anymore money.
2. Free agents get all the money, minus their agents take.
