I've seen this question posed several times, each with a slightly different theme. Usually, the person asking the question is really asking, "Isn't there a quicker way to make something of myself without putting any effort into it?"

You could go without school and do OK in life. Mediocre is a really easy goal to attain. If you're smart, you already knew that. Quit looking for jobs that want to pay "smart" people who learn fast alot of money. There really aren't jobs like that. If so, they're most likely taken. Not only that, how many interviewers do you think have heard underqualified people use the "I love to work and learn fast" line? That most likely won't get you a job, regardless if it is true.

If you don't want to go to school, but want a good job, you have to do SOMETHING! Find a certification, vocational training, etc., something other than telling a prospective employer you "learn fast" because they've heard that, and even dumb people have told them that, so they're not impressed.

You will have a tougher climb without some college under your belt, but it's not impossible. You will just spend a bit more time in lower paying jobs. If you don't think you'll like college, then don't do it. Unlike high school, there is no one there pushing you to succeed. If you do poorly, no one gives a damn but you. That's the way it is in college. You need personal drive and discipline to accomplish it. You should do what makes you happy though. A wise person (sorry I don't remember who) once said, "If you love your job you never have to work a day in your life." If you are interested in office jobs, perhaps you should at least look into business college. There are many of them around, they are usually pretty cheap, and many have classes that you can take online (like a correspondence school) in your own time. You can even complete entire degrees this way.

Whatever you choose, do what makes you happy. You only have one life and might as well not waste it being miserable doing something you don't enjoy.

It will limit you, but it's NOT the end of the world if you don't go to college. Sometimes getting experience in what you want to you will take longer and you will have to start much lower than a college graduate, and it may take you longer to climb up in the corporate ladder, but there are many jobs out there that will consider you based on experience and how well you interview with them. College degree is just a line or two on a resume, while if you have great experience, it can get you a number of jobs and after many years of experience at your job and a good, stable work history, you can go far - you may be limited in certain ways - but you can definiately make it without a degree- depends on how persistant and motivated you are.

No need for college. Plenty of technical schools or night courses you can take to fill in any needed skills. Bookkeeping does not require college; for example; yet can pay well. College teaches you very little you need to know if not headed for a profession..& even then....;) I have a degree in Finance so been there. Note: MANY people make great money & did no go to college.

Just focus on something you're passionate about and most often a career will develop before your eyes. Most likely you'll find yourself wanting to have more education on a particular field, but usually you can find that specified learning in non-credit continuing education classes, on the net, or in a book. Whatever you do, for your fathers sake, please stay off of the pole and never wear clear heels. Best of luck to you and I hope you have a fruitful life!

Marry a rich man, become a house wife and start poppin' out those babies. You'll never get any further than retail slavery, food service or reception, secretarial, data entry or clerical work.
