in a body of water as its temperature is increased?

The water will begin to release dissolved gases. O2, N2, CO2 and He will all begin to be released from the water. This is the problem with significant heating of a river or a lake. It will reduce its O2 content and certain aquatic life will die. Obviously, eventually the water will be converted to steam once it reaches the boiling temperature (about 100 C in most cases). The final change is a decrease in its density. This is a very slight change, but is actual and measurable. Water's density is at a maximum at about 4 C.

Other than the obvious, getting warmer it contracts too. Like when you freeze it. Water will expand and get cold. Just the opposite. Hope this helped you.
