It just shows how stupid the Red Sox are by wasting so much time with a injury rediled outfielder, instead of going and getting some bullpen help

The contract is still "in principle" which means technically he's still a free agent, but no one else is going to give him the money the Sox did, so he's not going anywhere else.

Basically the Sox doctors were a bit skeptical about the shape of his surgically repaired shoulder, despite him playing fine last season. They determined that his surgery could have negative effects down the road and the team wants to build some sort of insurance clause into the contract to protect them later on if something does happen to Drew.

Drew's agent, Scott Boras, wants to keep the contract structured the way it is which basically makes both him and JD Drew rich men for the duration of the contract, injuries not withstanding.

In the end Boras and Drew will probably realize that the Red Sox--at this point--is their only legitimate option for making the kind of they are looking at and they'll make some concessions to get the contract hammered out and make Drew an official member of the Red Sox.

From what I understand he was hurt and didn't pass his physical.

He laughed so hard at the Red Sox for giving a shite player like him so much money, that he pulled some muscles. It's OK, JD Drew doesn't do full season's anyways.

I wish the Red Sox had left him where he was, big mistake, he is not healthy, all that money to pay for a guy to be on the DL is just wrong. I hope it is not the case but not looking good. So, far Boston has the sense to try and put a clause in his contract, we shall see.

Who cares. He is a bum. He has had one okay year and bunch of injury filled crappy years. He has all the potential in the world but no stats, nothing to show for his potential. I am a Dodgers fan and though he played well for us, I am glad he left when he did so that we can get a more reliable, less injury prone outfielder.
