The manual says 6 hours is normal. The trouble is, it's a very low-powered source (5V and up to 500mA is the standard).

It may also depend on the PC you're connecting to: is it a laptop or a desktop? Is it going into some kind of "power save" mode? If so, it may not be charging at all at some times.

Also, if you haven't got the software installed correctly your Zen may not be "talking" correctly to the PC and may only be getting the low-power mode of 100mA. That would cause considerably slower charging. The same may also be happening if you're plugged into a USB hub rather than directly into the PC.

I'd advise you to get a mains charger - I'm going to, for sure. I haven't priced it up properly yet, but Maplin have one for a tenner, Amazon a more basic one for £4. Other suppliers will also have them.

I have one and I used to charge it with the USB cord that came with it but it took too long so my boyfriend gave me one that he found that I could plug into the wall and it would charge in like an hour from the battery being completely dead. Go to some kind of electronics store and ask for a USB plug for your MP3 player that plugs into the wall.
