In the state of Arkansas what can be done when a 23 year old man, during a lake trip with many other friends, repeatedly attempts to cooerce a 13 year old girl away from her parents for such things as "a midnight swim when everyone else goes to sleep" or "man I wish you were old enough to dring, then we could really have some fun" "Do you think you could get away from your dad and go for a ride with me in my new truck and listen to the radio".

She should tell her parents. This way they know not to be friends with such a person anymore. Otherwise, as long as it was all just talk, I don't think you can do anything legally.

It doesn't sound like he has committed a criminal act yet. First, the parents should say something to him about staying away from the girl. The girl should make it clear that she has no interest. "Hey, get away from me" is a good start. If he persists, there is probably enough here to get a restraining order which should send the message loud and clear. He may also be working his way toward a stalking charge. The girl and her family should make sure to keep a detailed record of each act of harrassment in case it is needed in the future.

Definitely telll your parents immediately. He is dangerous. Have them Inquire at the police station if there is a category called "attempted statutory rape." Meanwhile keep away from him and let him know to stay away from you or there will be big trouble. I know it's not easy for a young girl to contront a grown man so tell your dad. My sister was raped at 13. It left her with a lot of emotional problems. Also go on the Internet and type in "Sex Offender Registry" and see if you can find him on it.

I live in Florida and don't believe there is a limitation Florida Stat. Ann. §775.15 No statute of limitations for sex battery if victim reported the offense within 72 hours. Florida S 698 (2001) Tolls the statute of limitation until a victim of a sexual offense reaches age 18 when the victim is a minor, or until they report it to authorities, whichever happens first.

The girl's parents have to be notified so they may keep a watch out for this individual. They will be able to take action against him and protect their daughter. If they do not know about this, how can they protect her and try to prevent a kidnapping or rape?

the parents really need to know, for the 13 yr olds safety, and needs to stay far away from this guy as possible...It really sounds like this guy needs some help in realizing that someone who is well under the legal age is not for him in any way...I know it might be hard for her to tell her parents, but they need to know before something bad happens and it is too late

Whao! That sounds like this guy is thinking of ACTUAL rape! Stay away from him and tell your parents what's going on. He's clearly a pedophile and if he doesn't go after you, he'll get someone else!

She should just tell her parents so the guy will stay away from her. He hasn't done anything yet.
