I would not give the child tea - the caffeine is not good for them. Also, did the doctor suggest enemas for the child? Please get another doctor!
Is the child hydrated - meaning is she getting enough fluids? This in itself can cause constipation.
Concerning her raw bottom. I used to use desitin (any zinc formula) and then put powder on top. You have to be proactive with diaper rash. Keep on top of any skin irritations before they get bad. Again - there are medications out there that can make her more comfortable. If its really hurting - this is a Mommy based idea - not medical. I put a little desitin and then vagisal (the cream medication that has a lidocaine numbing cream in it - you can get it at Walmart type stores) in my palm of my hand and mix together. Usually 90% desitin and 10% vagisal. It numbs the butt until it can heal.
My children were (and still are) very allergic to dairy products. There are other special, easier to digest formulas that will help. Hang in there - I was in you place. My son looked like a stick figure when he was 4 months old - he is now 7 years old and a very healthy child.
Thinking about you and God Bless

First of all why is she on soy milk. That's ridiculous. My baby is 6 months and has never spitten up except for when she had a virus last month. Maybe your daughter has a virus. The doctor said that its a virus in infants that eats away the enzymes in the stomach and that prevents the child from digesting milk. My baby is on Enfimil Lipil w/ Iron and has been since birth. Change her milk and give her apple juice and apple sauce for the constipation. Gerber even has apple/prune juice for infants because I have some. If that doesn't work try regular prune juice. Maybe shes spitting up because she needs to do-do. What goes in must come out from somewhere right.

Your baby may suffer from GERD. I think you should consult your pediatrician, of course, but firstly, I wouldn't suggest you give her juice until after six months. Secondly, try and have her upright for at least thirty minutes after feedings. My daughter is a spitter too, but at six months she is spitting up less. When you go to your doctor, he may prescribe medicine to not stop the spitting up but at least not irritate her esophagus - which is what you really don't want.
Constipation might be due to the iron content in the formula, but I am not sure. Maybe she doesn't agree with soy formula? Burp after every two oz if you can. The good news is that when she begins solids, the spit up does start to decrease.
Also, do NOT let your dr. push you into doing a GERD test (barium swallow) unless she is NOT gaining weight well/failing to thrive. If she is gaining weight ok, and steadily, then you probably have a 'happy spitter' and medical intervention is neither warranted nor necessary.

Is the "spitting up" projectile vomiting? Like it has force behind it when it comes up? If so have your daughter checked for something called H. Pylori. It's a bacertia that inflames the second muscle at the end of the stomach and does not allow the food to digest and always throws it up. My daughter had it and it's extremely rare and took a team of pediatric specialists to finally diagnos her. Doctors thought acid reflux, colic, ulser and allergies and we tried treating it all and nothing worked. H. Pylori can only be diagnosed through a Upper GI (baby will drink a special "formula" and lie on a table and they will track the food through the body and find out where is stops basicly). Also, make sure the doctor's have tried the others things mentioned too. Good Luck!

The constipation is more of a clue than the spitting up. Your baby may have a food intolerance. Try a hypoallergenic formula like Neutramagin (or something else that your doctor might recommend).
Make sure that you are mixing the formula correctly ( too much powder and not enough water will cause constipation).
My son had similiar problems and we had to finally get a prescription formula through our doctor and a special type of bottle to help with air bubbles (Dr Browne's). We also found out he had a yeast build up in his gut that was causing problems too.
I'm sure your doctor has told you - as long as the baby is gaining weight it is nothing to worry about - that is CRAZY. Constipated babies do not sleep and sleep is important and cronically constipated babies do not play with toys because they are cranky and will sometimes sit and lay in odd position becuase their tummies hurt. My son ended up having months of physical and occupational therapy once we figured out what was wrong to oovercome everything that happened while we were waiting for the doctors to get around to figuring out what was wrong. It ended up being a simple food intolerance that caused HUGE developmental issues.
Try this book "Breaking the Viscious Cycle". It talks alla bout helping the body heal itself by balancing naturally occuring bacteria in your gut by controlling food intake, vitamins etc.
Hang in there!

Almost everyone I know who used soy formula had issues with spitting up. You may want to see the pediatritian and switch to something like Nutrimagin or sas similar special formula. It can work wonders. Also, look into GERD testing. Some babies have a gastrointestinal syndrome that causes the spitting up and it is quite painful. Unfortunately the testing is also uncomfortable, but will be invaluable to your child's help. Best of luck with your child.

i feel your pain. mine is the same way when it come to the spitting up all the time. here are a few things i do to minimize it. i usually ticken up her formula with ceral, and try to give her more servings of baby food thoughout the day. and try to keep her still or less active after eating.
for the constipation try giving her prunes, i would stop giving her enemas right away. like the other person wrote it sounds more like a food intorlence. there might be smething wrong with the way her body breaks down food. i would consult a specialist.

While you are feeding your baby, try burping often. Meaning: Start feeding, then take a break from feeding and burp her, then give her the bottle again, and then stop and burp her again, and then give her the bottle, and so on. I've read that spit up is sometimes caused by gas pushing the milk/formula back up because babies don't know how to control gas themselves.

I have a seven month old with the same problem. She is nursing, and on some solids, but still continues to spit up. Is your baby gaining weight steadily? I wish I had a solution for you, but unfourtunatley I don't. We just always have to have burp cloths nearby and do lots of laundry! Good luck with your little one!

for constipation you can feed the baby prune baby food or even put a few tablespoons of cayro syrup in the bottle. as far as spitting up u should see the babys dr to see if the baby has reflux, two of mine did and i was told by the dr to put baby cereal in the milk to thicken it so the baby could hold it down better.
