Try VLC media player. I have Nero, Windows Media, etc, and was still having a problem watching DVDs. VLC isn't the greatest as far as skins go, but the watching quality is really good, it opens almost any and every file or disc, and you can even take stills which is kindof cool if you want a particular scene as a background or something.

Most of the better software makers will let you download a scaled down copy of their software to try for 30 days. Nero, Roxio, and others are good. Once you have it downloaded just put the DVD in and it should start. You may have to download another couple of things from Microsoft, but if so it will tell you. Also reel player may work for you.
