The first thing you should do it clear the ground of all weeds, sticks, rocks, all large debris, then you need to learn about the soil you have.. talking to a local nursery would be an excellent idea, they are experts in the area you live it..you might have to put in amendments to your soil.. especially if you have clay! once that is all done i would add some manure.. don't go crazy with the bags of fancy.. pricey manure.. i have found chicken and steer manure are wonderful.. you might have to deal with the stink for a couple days, but that goes away, and works the best! i have gotten the best results this way.. good luck!!!

if you already have a garden tilled up,then your 3/4 the way there.there are several brands of fertilizer made just for flowers.the miracle grow brand is the best. make sure to soften the ground ,remove some existing soil then mix the fertilizer in the garden about 40 % fertilizer and then plant. the fertilizer has plenty of nutrients and other proper minerals so don't add anything else .

With the very hot spells of weather coming now it would be best to consider a garden with a Mediterranean touch. Plenty of plants that enjoy heat and dry earth. Pavings and gravel surround will keep things easier to maintain. Grass will only dry up!
Lavenders and silver leaf plants plus pinks and geraniums are a good and fragrant start. Try an olive tree or two. Spanish broom looks good. Good Luck!

hi flower, you cant do much yet as the ground is to hard,at the beginning of march did it all over you need to go down at lest 6inches then all you need is to add manure too the soil its gonna stink but its worth it,mix it all together with a rake and plant away.oh and before you start get a soil sampler from a garden centre and test your soil type and stick to appropriate plants.

It kind of depends on the flowers. Ask your nursery person when you go shop for the plants.
