I'm planning to travel from Bangalore to Coimbatore Via Hosur, Rayakootai, Palacode, Thoppur, Mettur, Bhavani, Perundurai & Avinashi. It would be extremely helpful if somebody could let me know the road condition in the following sectors: Hosur-Rayakkotai-Palacode-Thoppur-Mettur-Bhavani. Also, let me know whether this is better than Hosur-Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri-Salem-Bhavani route?

We had been to Kerala via Coimbatore. I would prefer you to take the National Highway NH7 from Bangalore to Krishnagiri then join the NH to Salem via Darmapuri, Thoppur ghats. You can either take via Salem Bhavani or Mettur Bhavani, Perundurai Avinashi. Roads are good except small stretches between Krishnagiri to Darmapuri. Road between Hosur-Rayakottai-Palakkod is not that good.

The above road except the stertch between Hosur to Thoppur (via Royakottai) is not good and the road width is too less. Better option for this tavel will he Blore - Hosur - Dharmapuri - Salem - Erode - Coimbatore - Pallakkad which has good road conditions almost 2/3 of the road is four track and it is all weather road. Interior road most of the time not prefereble for the first time traveller

Once out of the Bangalore City traffic, the road is really good on the national highway. Hosur - Krishnagiri and so on is the faster way as its Highway all the time. The other route u mentioned touches the state highway and journey could be slower

Long term approach 1. All companies should be made to pay 1% of profit for a infrastructure fund. 2. There should be a board of control represented by companies, urban planners and civic bodies to manage this fund. 3. Execute road construction and other civil works by contracting it to reputed companies only with proven track record of quality. No babu-contractor nexus in awarding these contracts. 4. Buy machines (a sort of big vacuum cleaner) to suck all the dry dust/mud from roads. This will go a long way in reducing pollution dud to suspended particles and improve health of the people. 5. Recruit more traffic management personnal. The cost can be offset by generating revenue by imposing fines for all traffic violations. 6. Build more pheripheral roads and move industries/companies there. 7. Execute the Bangalore Metro in the right earnest. 8. No free parking - I think Bangalore is the ONLY city in the world where parking is free but you have to pay to use public toilets!! Public toilets are to be used by poor people and parking is to be paid by vehicle owners. Can you see the irony here. 9. Plant more trees. 10.Appoint a CEO for Bangalore city.
