Woodchip,
Whether a male-to-female transsexual has any male pattern hair loss really depends WHEN they transition. Basically, if they transition before the hair loss has occured then NO, they will not go bald (at least not unless some other ailment affects them) as the proces is androgen dependent.
IF however, they have hair loss before transition, then HRT will not help them grow back any of the lost hair.

The hormones taken for gender reassignment, will stop hair falling out, however hair that has already gone due to normal male baldness will not return. So depending on how late things are left etc depends on the hair issue!

hi
was your friend bald before he became she?
if your friend is taking the HRT your friends hair should be getting thicker
but taking HRT will not make him loose his hair.
