We have just bought a new Dell pc, and want to transfer our music from the old Dell pc to the new one.

Cannot use cd's as there is a LOT of music.

And have tried using my Sony mp3 player, but the new one will not accept the music as it says it's from a different computer.

An external hard drive would probably be your best option. I have one that's 75GB but one smaller would probably hold all your music. That way you can hook it up to both computers and it'll stop giving you messages telling you it's from a different computer. They're not that expensive either--try someplace like Best Buy or Office Max to get one. Good luck!

There are 2 ways both simple and cheap:
#1 You can share your music foldres in the old dell pc and access them from the new one of course you've to have a hub but now most dsl providers give u a router wich can be used just plug both pcs you may use this also to play against your brothers in need for speed or something one in each computer.
#2You can extract your old HDD and plug it into your new pc
then you can copy the files and if you want you can format it an leave it as slave so you can have even more space to store movies music or other stuff

You can get a memory stick/flash drive - but these don't take much more than a CD.

Use a CD-RW so you can copy some files and then erase the disk and try again.

If both of the PCs have a network card (I'm guessing you don't have a network) you can get a null network cable from PC world and this will allow the two PCs to talk to eachother.

Hi, using external harddrive (hdd) is the most painless and recommended way of doing it. To avoid buying ext hdd and ONLY if you know how and the drives have same type of connector, you can take the drive containing music files out the old pc and put it into the new one. This way you can transfer data in one go.

Get yourself a 1 Gig USB flash drive for about $20.00. This will be much quicker and easier than transferring to /from a CD.

A dvd will hold several albums (can't remember how many) - failing that, you can pick up an external hard drive for about £60 for 200+ GB
