Because I'm stupid and have left all my revision for two major subjects until 5 days before the exams. I've read my notes but i just can't absorb any of it- I just get bored and drift my attention to something else.
Please help!

For me the easiest ways to learn a lot fast are writing things out and teaching someone else.

If you go through your notes and books and make general outlines of the important topics and definitions it will help you learn it...the more times you write something the better it is commited to memory. If you make good brief outlines they are great to look over quickly right before the test too. flash cards can help also becaue once again you are writing out first then you have a quick reference to go through before the test to refresh youre memory.

Also teaching someone else ensures that you know the topic. If you have a friend who is in the classes spend the afternoon explaining all the topics to them. It will help them study and help you study too.

I am a last minute person too so i alway put things off as well. The most important thing is to know what to study. dont try to memorize everything its just too much and you wont do well on the test. You know youre teacher what kind of questions will they most likely ask....what did they stress in classs that will be on the test. What are the bold words in the text what are the main points of the chapter. I

f you narrow down what you have to study some its much easier to learn it all. I had a friend who tried to memorize the whole book...she would study for hours every day, but she over prepared and though i studied less i studied smarter and i always did better than her on the test. So study smart!

I think it just feels as if you can't absorb any of it. We all get that way. Try flashcards. They are always helpful and allow you to review the information in smaller pieces which are easier to
digest. Also, I use mnemonic devices to help remember things.

For example, the classic way to remember the order of the planets is to create a sentence using the first letter of each planet. My Very Educated Mother Just Serviced Us Nine Pickles. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (even though the status of Pluto is being debated). The sillier the sentence is that you create, the better you will remember. Good luck!

What works for me is reading through everything, including any notes I have, and taking notes on it and highlighting important things (which in some subjects can turn out to be the whole dang book especially psych!). The main idea is to let this be a lesson to you, DON'T PUT IT OFF SO LONG NEXT TIME!!
