We stop drinking the water after a certain amount entered our stomach (variable amount between individuals with regard to age, sex, tphysical condition, climate), but the electrolytic imbalance (at brain level, hypothalamus center) that made us drinking is not fixed yet (hidration at cell-level is not done yet as the water has not entered the circulation).

I don't have a professional answer but I just don't think that you should drink too much. Bad for the stomach and it causes too much bathroom breaks.

Your stomach will tell your brain when you have enough water even though it hasn't reached your cells yet. This is for two reasons. One is that your stomach as a limit to how much it can hold. The second is that you can drink too much water... it takes a lot, but if you get more water in your system than your body needs and more than your kidneys can process it can actually cause your systems to shut down and kill you.

I actually know someone who's daughter died because of this. She passed out at a soccer game and they gave her fluids at the hospital because they thought she was dehydrated. Turned out she was not dehydrated and the pumping of fluids into her system anyway basically drowned her internally.
