In my 2001 Galant, the heat is not turning hot until the car is fully warmed up after driving around for a few minutes. In order for the heat to come on, I have to turn the fan off and on a few times. Then when the heat finally comes on, it cools down and heats up on it's own for a few minutes. I'm thinking it may be the thermostat getting stuck but I'm not sure.

I think I may have confused thing a bit, when I talk about the car being fully warmed up, I'm more speaking to the fact I have to actually drive it around for some time first instead of the car heating up enough in the driveway...the car itself warms up, but the heat won't until driving.

low coolant remove the radiatorcap and fill it up do this on a cool engine not a hot one and refill the overflow bottle dont just ad to the overflow only as if there is a leak it wont suck it out now replace the cap with a new one sa the cap is probally bad or you have a leak somewhere

you have a leak somewhere get the system pressure tested if it continues to go down

The radiator water/coolant level is low. Add at least a 50/50 antifreeze mixture and check for leaks. Straight water or antifreeze is not good ... both will freeze and straight antifreeze will make the car overheat because it does not conduct heat as well. That is the most likely cause and it could cause engine damage if not corrected. ~

Well, since the air is heated by the engine of the car, your car has warm up before it can heat your air. As far as the fan goes I am sure it is electrical.
