I had that issue too lol and the simple answer is to check the body of the laptop, you will find a switch on the laptopn. (Check down of it, up of it or in the sides) you will see it.

It's a pretty general question but I'll do my best (with a lot of IF's)

First, have you tried rebooting the system?

IF you're using a new HP laptop there should be a button on the top of the keyboard.

You can also try the Help and Support Wizard. Just click Start, then Help and Support then under "Pick a Help Topic" click "Networking and the Web" then "Networking", then "Wireless Networking" then "802.11". Then on the right Pick a task. You should be able to figure the rest out from there.

IF you're using Windows XP or Windows 2000 you can try to right click the "My Computer" desktop icon on your computer screen (aka desktop or start menu) and go to "manage" Under system tools go down 5 spots/choices to "Device Manager". Click it and look to the right. Go down the list to "Network Adapters". Click the plus sign and if theres a red x on something referring to wireless adapter you should be able to right click it and select "enable". If it's a yellow exclamation point then there may be something wrong with the card and you'd have to troubleshoot a little further than my answer provides.

Hope that helps.

Try hitting the Fn key with F5. That's what I usually have to do with my laptop.
