I wouldn't when eating at a Friends house, but I always do when eating out. Over the years I have been served everything from moldy pie to rancid steaks, and believe me, you never want to try either of those.

Funny you said that! Yes, I smell my food almost every time before I eat it, now that I think of it, it is a habit that I have since childhood. :).

Part of the enjoyment of food - and part of the taste process is the food's aroma. Smelling your food is part of that process but lowering your head to sniff the plate isn't cool.

I have to admit, I do. My co-workers/buddies and I were laughing about this over lunch yesterday. Its just a habit that I adopted recently for no apparent reason.
