Yes. In the "options" section of your e-mail program, select the option for "receipt." This will let you know when the receiver gets it and when they open it.

No! And concerning Outlook Express. Just because you can select the option to 'acknowledge your mail was received' does not mean the receiver has to honor your request. They can simply say NO.

AOL offers the ability, within its confines to other aol subscribers, but even that service doesn't allow or have the ability to note read mail sent via other avenues of the WWW.

I suspect my yahoo mail has no such ability. I have no clue as to other providers.

In Outlook, yes. You can request to be notified when the addressee reads the message.
