The only way to really answer your question is to first know what type business you are speaking of and what kind of software you will use. Most "Home Business" applications are pretty straightforward and do not require much computing power. An older Pentium II computer with 256 MB Ram would be sufficient. Any "entry level" computer will work just fine, there should be no reason to need anything more than 1 GB processor, 500 MB of Ram and a decent size (60 GB) hard drive should last for a long time.

Home businessses typically use pretty standard and non resource-intensive software, such as word processors, spreadsheet programs, web browsers, etc.....

Because of this, you do not need anything too special. A standard proccesor in the 2-3 GHz range will suffice. The only reason you would need anything more for a business is if you are a graphic designer or are making video games.

It's depend on what kind of business would you like to do. If you would use your computer just for documentation or something like that, 1.4 - 1.7 GHz is enough. If you would use your computer for some other else like graphic design.. about 2.4 - 2.8 GHz will be great. Using more memory can also boost the computer speed.

That depends greatly on the type of home business you want to start, what you want your computer to contribute to that business, and what software you want to use to achieve that. We need a little more info to answer this question.

Depends on the business.... if it's a website then you'll need a powerful server, if you're just using the computer for quick books then you need minimal resources.

If it is not going to act as a server, to be safe get a minimum of 2Ghz processor, 1Gb of memory, and 60Gb of harddisk. Type of computer (desktop or laptop) is up to you.
