How about making a topographic representation of some coastal city. Put it in a tank or deep pan and fill it with water to illustrate the impact of a tsunami.
You could use a similar approach to illustrate a dam breaking upstream from an inland city.
Or...calculate the amount of ash that a volcano would have to pour into the atmosphere to bring on a new Ice Age. You could have a graduated chart that describes the effects of lesser amounts of ash on life on the planet.
Or...describe a scenario for an impending disaster...say a hurricane...on some city and how the local and national government would get the people out of the city in time. Think Katrina hitting New Orleans...only doing it right this time.
Or...the impact of terrorists destroying Wall Street on the national and world economy.
Or...the impact of a nuclear explosion on the world. Use different scenarios depending on where the explosion hit. Impact would include fire, radiation, trauma, etc.

anyway you can do a disaster of many different things.... like...
the bombings in Hirushima, Hindenburg Disaster, or you can research D-Day.
But D-Day will take a lot of time.

So many disasters and only one to choose - what a dilemma.
You could select from the Tsunami or Katerina or any number of other hurricanes or the earthqauke in India. Go to the internet and you can get any any amount of information

you can do the project on flood , earthquake , or volcano . these are the most common topic and you will get plenty of information and images on these topic. i have already done projects on these topic,and if you want more help then do write back.

make a diagram of and give a detailed description about any topic of disaster (eg:when somebody fart)
