Its like this - i'm a 28 year old woman who works as a PA in london. Basically, i'm trying to change jobs and am going to wear a smart skirt suit for my interviews. However, this means i'll be wearing stockings and my boyfriend dosen't like the idea coz he thinks the interviewer(s) will be more interested in my choice of hosiery than my brain! I wouldn't wear seamed ones but i would be wearing a suspender belt - what should i do and would stayups be better?

He wants me wearing that sort of thing in the bedroom but not to work. But surely suspenders aren't that visible under a skirt?

i forgot to mention - my idea was to go with a grey skirt suit (tailored) - the skirt is approx. 3 inch above the knee with plain black stockings and sensible low(ish) heels. Does this sound sensible? All the websites on what to wear to interviews are pretty rubbish so all help much appreciated! Thanks

How are your interviewers supposed to know you are wearing whatever unless you plan on giving them a sneaky peak....??
Really, who cares? Get dressed and go to your interview.

If he's that jealous of the interviewer...what's he going to do when you work full time in the same sort of clothes?
Personally I would wear tights rather than stockings as it gives a better outline - you can see the straps of a suspender belt under a skirt - and looks more professional.
Keep stockings for going out in and having fun with your Boyfriend in!
Good Luck for your interviews!

How your stockings are held up is (or should be) completely irrelevent unless you plan to allow the interviewer to know what's up your skirt!
Your boyfriend's concerns may have basis if you have used your gorgeous legs to attract men before by the way you cross them, or how you sit. Wear plain taupe or suntan coloured stockings and sensible shoes and don't flash your legs or be anything but a lady, of course. Remember, your interviewer may be a woman.
Unless your boyfriend has made your clothing choices for you a lot in the past, I wouldn't be concerned about it. If this has happened quite a bit before, though... he may be overly possessive. When a man makes clothing choices for his woman (even if he's not her husband) he is saying he cares about her appearance and also that what she wears reflects on him and his relationship to you.
I would take his concerns as a compliment and soothe his feelings by being professional at your interview.

I'm not sure that this is a 'for real question' or a windup for we, the Male creatures, here!
Your choice of hosiery is a choice reached through certain internal criteria (= 'you made up your own mind').
This is not 'criticism,' by the way.....
What would it cost you to change your mind?
Why not exceed to your boyfriends 'request'? What would that cost you?
Your choice of hosiery and its ancillary bits n pieces may well not or may well could influence the minds of those who'd be interviewing you ....generating positives and negatives ....sort of Heads you Win, Tales you Lose, though you could damage your relationship with the boyfriend in the process.
You could easily say that your boyfriend is being sexist and wimpy and all kinds of other negative stuff ~ while being honest about his perceptions of you and the world at large,
The Answer is centred around the the balance you must apply to your personal values and applying them to your decision over this matter.
Good Luck.

Jealous man! Wear what you want..just as tip though if you are wearing a tighter skirt, the suspender belt might look a little lumpy. What you said you are wearing sounds very professional..nothing wrong with it and a good choice if you ask me.

you know what dear I am a woman, and my boyfriend like me looking nice and presentable he even tells me how i look honestly not just to get me out of his face. buuuut, if the guy is telling you, you are going to exhibit yourself to the interview panel thatn answert the questions that is his jealous head talking and not the partner side of things except if you plan on wearing a mini skirt which i guess you do not intend to, do you.
your man just have to learn to check his jealous or else at the rate he is going he will even start telling you when to see yor family and your girlfriends, so that he can have you at his beck and call all the time he want, the guy is insecure but i hope you did not do anything to have him doubt where he belongs in your life, or did you?
tell your man you love him but you need to make living too, and you appreciate his advice but in this case you just tend to differ ......

properly a great number of folk have merely reported its interior the previous so overlook approximately it, and that i quite accept as true with that yet while its something that bothers then you definately according to probability you're able to tell him, like if I have been in that undertaking if it did no longer difficulty me too plenty then i could have the skill to miss approximately it and at last sometime if could arise, yet while it did difficulty me then i could carry it up in a communication sometime or merely say "there is something that i'd desire to tell you because of the fact i think of you're able to understand" and tell him what befell and the type you felt then and then additionally the type you experience approximately it now so as that he's conscious the certainty because of the fact even nonetheless you're no longer mendacity via no longer announcing something a real courting could have the two those with the flexibility to be thoroughly open with one yet another

In my opinion it´s terrible if you let that your boyfriend decides for you, he can give you some advices but not chooses for you, You have already 28 years old and is time that you know what kind of clothes wear for your interviews or not.

please dont wear a skirt 3 inches above the knee, when you sit down it will ride up very high!! this is totally unsuitable. the skirt should be on the knee for an interview. alternativly there are very nice, modern trouser suits. good luck with the interview

It sounds like a smart business suit for an interview. I think your b/f is being a bit overprotective. He's just thinking like a man.
