Boise State played a brand of wide-open, winging-it style football. They had nothing to lose. With a combination of luck, skill, and derring-do they shocked Oklahoma, demonstrating that there IS some degree of parity in Division I-A football, and warming the hearts of people who cheer for underdogs. Congratulations to each player and to Coach Chris Petersen for giving fans a bowl game for the ages.

Boise State is proof that a playoff is needed.
Go to Yahoo's sports page and read Dan Wetzel's column. I'll give you the gist of his playoff system:
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=Amgg68wEIGGGdCHyHSiXmAscvrYF?slug=dw-plan010507&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
The 11 conference regular season champions qualify (yes, EVERY conference) plus five "at large" bids to top teams (who would almost certainly be BCS conference teams or Notre Dame). The sixteen teams would play a simple single elimination tournament.
It's a good system; it allows winning teams like Boise State, Utah and Louisville into the playoff, but allows non-champions like Wisconsin, LSU, and other top-teams in. If it's good enough for basketball and produces a legitimate champion, why not football?

I watched that awesome game!! It was the best football played EVER!! Boise SO deserved to win!! I'm not much for Oklahoma, but i was wanting them to win, and when Boise came back from the Quarter backs misfortune of having the ball intercepted.....I ended up cheering for them instead! Cinderella story indeed!!

boise is a good team but the bcs rating system is B,S, we need a playoff system like the N,F,L, #1 should play #2 at this point boise is 13 & 0 but rated # 5, the bcs system does not work & its not fair!!

No on all counts. I'm a Pitt fan and remember Utah destroying Pitt in the bowl game and it didn't do much for Utah. Sure they were expected to win but not by so much. Boise though fell into OT and got lucky on the gamble, and other luck.

its true that boise st didnt play as many ranked teams as the other bcs teams, but they still deserve a chance to win the national title. college football needs a playoff, in college basketball every team gets a chance to win the tournament, it should be the same in football.

Boise St. beat ONE ranked team (aside from their bowl victory) all year and the team wasn't even ranked at the time...yea, they went undefeated but i'm pretty sure my high school football team could go undefeated against the teams they played..there toughest opponent (once again, aside from oklahoma on monday) was the oregon st beavers NOW ranked 24th....
Ohio State on the other hand...beat Texas (#2 at the time), Penn State (24 at the time), Iowa (#13 at the time) and Michigan (#2 at the time) and soon they're about to play another #2 ranked team, they've earned it unlike Boise St. (i'm not saying boise isn't good they just don't deserve to be int he BCS championship like you're making it seem)

That was one of the greatest games I have EVER seen. I thought for sure that game was over 3 different times. I could not a agree more, they deserve a shot at the #1 team, Undefeated and nothing to show. That is crap!!!

Boise State had a great year. BUT, look at their schedule and the level of competition they faced. Granted they barely beat a Oklahoma team on a down year but they would never be able to hold their own against the likes of a Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, LSU, and on and on. Enjoy the eseason they had but let's not go overboard.
