My Xbox 360 is connected to my HDTV via Y/Pr/Pb component cable, the one that comes with the Premium Pack.

Currently works at 1080P no probs

Would I get better results if I connect it to the VGA connector on the HDTV? opinion on the net seems mixed.

What is the best method?

I bought a vga cable on Christmas Eve. When you first set up the cable, go to the settings option and pick the resolution your hd tv is set to produce. I saw a major difference. The resolution was definitely better than the standard cables. I have a samsung hd tv which is the most highly recommended hd tv for the 360.
I haven't seen any mixed feelings about this on the net myself, but I won't be going back to the standard cable again. It works for me.
Why not give it a go?

A friend got a Dell and the VGA cables, so I'll let his pictures speak for themselves.

IMO, the VGA is the way to go if you have the equipment.
