Am living on borrowed time with my '98 at 150k. Any suggestions for good mechanic and/or dealer shop which will do a good job and not charge me arm, leg, and my firstborn child?

Also: have heard it's good idea to replace water pump at same time (as front end already taken apart anyway)...comments?

If the water pump is tied to the timing belt, then yes, change it out.

Call around and get estimates. That is a standard job, they know what they have to do.
