I'm conducting study to try and find the real reason why relationships fail. So far I believe it is because both parties found each other based strongly on physical attraction and not personality. If you can't connect with a person personality wise then all you can really do is stare at each other and admire your looks and the realtionship goes no where. Also when you go strictly by looks you limit your field greatly for finding your true love.

i dont think physical attraction is the main point of a relationship but i do believe its important to have some physical attraction.

for me, i have to know the personality to be attracted to someone. if someone is a major *** then that person loses his attraction

I haven't dated anyone based soley on physical "looks" since I was a teen-ager, but attraction, like chemical attraction is very important...just as important as compatibility in other arenas. Mostly, I don't think about it very much, people are people...but I've found that since I'm attractive, some people have dated me for that reason...and I'm starting to think that perhaps I should look at those societal values more closely, and look for more attractive people to date, as I seem to be judged as something of a trophy...people play along with other things, until they figure they aren't compatible and it is as important as the way someone looks. It's sad...but I got along with other people and accepted them for who they were, because I believe that someone's personality is highly attractive, and more real than something as shallow as how your legs look in a mini-skirt...ya' know, but it's pervasive...and people will settle for the legs, eventhough other aspects of who I am are annoying to them (not everybody)...it's just something about our society and it's shallow character values...everybody wants to be a rock star

Physical attraction is so important to most people because most people want to look at something good if they might spend their whole life together. But as far as I'm concerned you should date someone for their personality instead of looks because many relationships fail because of shallow people when they need to look way deeper.

Physical attraction is so important because today's society makes it so important. Instead of seeing others for who they are we tend to look at them the way our picture perfect world wants them to be....and most times they're not
