Yep, mine is usually heavy for a few days now. Back when I was like 13 though, I bled very heavily for several weeks, went to the doctor and found out I had 17 cluster cysts on my ovaries.. had those removed, and it helped some. If its just day 4 I wouldn't worry to much about it yet... but if it last 6 days or more, I'd make an appointment with the doctor. I was lucky and caught mine before they became cancerous. Since I had the sugery, mine is only heavy for 2-3 days, but I have aweful cramps. Several other people I know just have heavy ones and they are fine.. I guess some women just have differnt cycle lengths and volumes.

If it persists go to the doctor.... It could just be your natural cycle or it could be something far worse. Don't put your health in jeapordy as some things that cause this are life threatening.

I used to get really heavy periods when I was in middle and high school. Mine used to last for six or seven days and be heavy all the way until it stopped. They got lighter as I got older (not that I'm that old, I'm only 22), but even now, they can be different from month to month. Sometimes I'll have a light period for three days, or last month I had a really heavy period for five days. It varies. I wouldn't worry unless your period lasts over a week. Then you might want to see a doctor and get everything checked out, but you should be fine.

Yes I suffered from very painful and heavy periods which used to last for about 17 days. My gynaecologist first gave me some hormone tablets for 3months but that did not work so he suggested the mirena coil, I had that for 10 months and that did not do much. The doctor suggested to have a hysterectomy. I am only 38 years old and with four kids so after making a decision I had it done 7 weeks ago. It has been a slow recovery but I am getting there.

a period cycle can last up to 7 days, it is possible you can still be having "heavy" flow

it will subside in a day or so, hopefully sooner than later
