At a guess I would say it was from TITHE
The only one I know of is Telscombe Tye in Sussex, which is common land. But this might only have been for the last 200 years or so, not when it got its name?
Tithe is something to do with land and the proportion (10%) that is used to pay tax.

Tighe, Tigue, Teague
One of many variants of a name which is derived from the Irish christian name Tadhg. Also synonymous with the English surname Tye, which is also synonymous with the surname Kangley as ceangal is the Irish word for a tie. Tighe is found in north Meath and east Cavan.
