Even though we don't have passports, doesn't mean we don't care or aren't interested in the world outside our borders. Some of us, most likely a lot of us can't even afford to travel to another country. And so many of us are so far from the Mexican border, where we are required to show a passport to come back across the border it doesn't matter. Canada allows Americans to cross over for a short visit and we aren't required to show passports when we cross back over, our American drivers license is enough. (Although it's been years, since I've gone into Canada, so that might of changed, but I think not, since my honey and I drove up near the border a few years ago and it's not a controlled access way, there was just a sign that read Welcome to Canada.)
So stop assuming the people of the United States don't care about the people outside our borders, because we do, and most likely more then a lot of people living in European countries do.

#1 Probably - but that applies to most if not all countries.
#2 Again this applies to most if not all countries. How many citizens of Myanmar care to understand the plights of the Malagasy?
#3 80% is probably high. Many citizens of the US can not afford to travel overseas. Many can not get a visa due to criminal convictions. The consequences of "only 80% of americans have passports?"
would be that American travelers would spread less of their cash around.
#4 I personally do not believe all countries should emulate us (Americans).
#5 Many countries do have older cultures. I like to read about them. But to infer culture superiority just by age alone is silly.

I had a passport and traveled at one time. I have no need for a passport now unless I decide to travel again. And yes most of us Americans care about what goes on outside of our country....why do you think we keep trying to help everyone who "cry wolf" and say they want freedom then....oops, Never mind. Freedom does not come cheep, There is a price to pay for it. Thousands of our soldiers are killed. As far as Americans thinking "their way of life is the way it should be" There sure are a lot of people out there that want it or we would not have thousands of dead soldiers. The age of our culture only being 200 years old meaning what? It just means that people in "older cultures" have had a lot more time to mess up the human race.

That's sounds like a pretty pompous view. You have to remember that Americans as a whole don't live a life of luxury and don't have the option of travelling around the world to study foreign cultures. So generally the opinions of Americans are going to be influenced by the media which has been told exactly what to say about world politics.
I would agree that Americans are shielded from the truth, but the idea that it is because they don't care about anyone else would suggest to me that you have more money than many, so you're just better than the rest of us.

God yes they are!
Im glad someone else realizes this, I am surprised 80% of Americans have a passport though, that seems like a really high number.
Most of them have no clue as to what the reality of things are in other parts of the world. They just watch their sanitized pretty media stories and thats the end of it.

i'm not so particular of how a lot u . s . of america actual impacts the international. there are various very much populated parts of the international which not basically dislike u . s . of america, yet do each and every problem they could to not "stay in/use an same procedures." countless human beings in u . s . of america are ignorant, yet there are various many more desirable ignorant human beings in international places alongside with large Britain, operating example.:) it really is complicated to study about different international places and civilizations with out the money to holiday, as a lot of human beings do not have the income to bypass see the international. who're they think to anticipate to tutor them about the international? the information....there is your rationalization there.

I agree with you. Most Americans never knew anything about Baghdad not until the U.S. invaded Iraq. They never knew anything about Iran not until the nuclear issues with that country came up. They will only know of a country once that country made it in the big news. The worse thing is, their knowledge about that country only comes from the biased news that's fed to them by American TV networks.
The best thing to learn about any country is to go into the history books and study them.

Perhaps. But truthfully why wouldn't they be? After all it's the outside world trying to emulate the US. I think anyone who has traveled at any length may appreciate one or more aspects of a specific country, but realize that as a whole none are better than the Good 'Ole USA.

They have been conditioned to be the way they are by a being fed a diet of bullshite. Your average American is educated in world culture by a Disney style education system, their attack dog mentality government feeds them on an unhealthy diet of fear which keeps them suspicious and therefore dangerous. I`ve been all over this planet and i can tell younfrom experience that the places i have visited which were once peacefull, have only become scary because of the US and it`s allies interfering with them. If they were`nt so damn intent on controlling evrything the world would be a hell of a beautiful place to live, instead of a f*cking degenerated war zone like it is now.
