I guess it depends how much natural talent you have.

I believe that if the music is in your soul then you don't need to but I also believe that training can help with honing your skills.Teaching you to breathe properly etc.

To be a reputable one, yes. People want to know that you have some sort of formal training and are therefore accredited to do your job.
