Are there any tricks for un-doing seized bolts?? the bolts on my front brake calipers have completly seized, they aren't rusty just won't move.
I am using socket and wrench .
The bolt does move but makes a noise that is kind of like stripping metal .
Thanks in advance

Please advise

It's all about leverage. Use a longer wrench, breaker bar or impact gun. Might not hurt to let some penetrating lube soak in for a while either. The horrible sound you are hearing is rust scraping on rust. It shouldn't be a real problem and does indicate the bolt is at least moving. You can't cross-thread a bolt coming out, only going in.

Spend 2 or 3 bucks on some penetrating oil/spray

Spray it on and let it set in for 5 mins

Go back and spray again and let set for 5 more mins

Wipe off excess and use your same tools to get those bolts off

Save money

Replace brakes

The noise you hear will go away after spraying

That's the cheapest route

put the socket and wrench on the bolt then get a friend to whack the socket with a hammer as you are undoing the bolt the shock usually breaks the seal on the bolt.

look just below the bolts there is a 2ND set that will remove the mounting bracket as well now go to a parts store and get a new caliper it should come with the bracket for that car and replace it and you're done after you bleed the system of course

Honda's are famous for this one

You need to be carefull with the over turning, the stripping metal sound could be you cross threading the hole and trust me you dont want to do that, you#ll never get the bolts back in if you do that.
i had the same problem on my car and i had to drill out the old bolts and put self tapping (slightly oversized) bolts back in.

A good impact wrench with a tight fitting hex socket will probably break them free. Maybe it's time to invest in a quality electric impact wrench from Milwaukee Tools (below).
