It seems that normal everyday functions that I do on my computer for example, I had powerDVD installed on my computer at the factory when the computer was specially built and I used it for one year and then suddenly without warning it doesn't work anymore, I even tried downloading a newer version of it and after two days that didn't work anymore either. That's just one of many, many things that go on with my computer. It's so fustrating.

In reading between the lines, even though you don't mention any specific problems other than the dvd player, you may have a lot of spyware, malware, etc on your system that is using all of your resources for other things. I suggest first making sure your anti-virus signatures are up to date, then getting spybot s&d (from lavasoft corp, not any of the others with similar names) and AdawareSe. Then disconnect from the "net" and restart in safe mode. Run your anti-virus program and the other 2 I mentioned. You may be surprised by how much stuff they find. After deleting all the bad stuff, restart your computer and see if it is better. You may also want to download Zonealarm as a good firewall will stop many problems before they happen. Note - other than your virus program, none of the ones I mentioned cost anything plus you can get free anti-virus programs as well if you do not have one (AVS or Avast come to mind).
