It seems like after Final Fantasy VII, people say that the game wasn't as good. By the time people got to FF9, I guess they we're really into it because it wasn't another Final Fantasy VII. The same thing happened with Final Fantasy VIII, everyone says the storyline was weak. It's really a matter of opinion. Another thing, is that the American audience of Final Fantasy were getting used to the more sci-fi/futuristic Final Fantasy games, and Final Fantasy IX wasn't that way, it went back to the traditional Final Fantasy style...of Fantasy..

yes u r right in ur way of view to the situation, but compared to the other final fantasy it has a lot different story line,so the people considered it weak or even did not love it as much as the others,i liked it personally, and i considered it a journey in the depth of human inner self, and i think it is underestimated also.it is as wonderfull as the other parts of final fantasy,it is just different.

Here's why: the story line sucked, the battle animation was too corny, the cut-scenes were NOT as good as previous, and you really didn't get a good thrill out of fighting the bosses. Any more dumb questions?
