He won't quit? Why doesnt the Ford family fire him?? He drafted wr's #1 3 out of 4 years and 2 of them don't even start. They might not be the worst, btu they aren't trailing anyone I can think of except maybe the New York Knicks.

I'd say the Cardinals are, but the Lions give them a run for their money.
To clear up some other misconceptions from above, the Lions moved from Portsmouth, Ohio (where they were the Spartans) in 1934, not 1932. And for those saying the Oakland Raiders, they obviously have a very short memory, as the Raiders have 3 Super Bowl rings to their credit, and have, amongst active teams, the fifth highest winning percentage (they were second behind Miami until this year's debacle).

Absolutely not, Millen may be the most inept GM but the Raiders are much worse
I actually feel kinda bad for Ford because hes an old school kinda man,
When he trusts a man he sticks to them, hes very loyal
and right now Millen is taking advantage of that loyalty and being a dumba$$ with it

To put this into perspective, the Lions are one of the Original NFL teams. They have been around a long time.
I am 50 years old. The last time they won a championship, I was a one year old baby! In my lifetime they have won ONE playoff game. That's it...
You can't have that kind of ineptness in basketball. That league's barely 49 years old now, as it is!
You can't have that kind of ineptness in hockey, because the teams that are old enough have all won Lord Stanley at least once in that time frame.
That leaves baseball. The Chicago Cubs you say? Wrong O! In 1989 and 2003 they made it to the National League Championship Series. The Detroit Lions only made it that far in 1991, losing to Dallas.
I started to research the Washington Senators, but then it occured to me. Why? The Lions are here, they aren't. They don't count. And that also explains the Montreal Expos.
I couldn't find a team that has been around as long as the Lions, and experienced a playoff record of 1-49, meaning one playoff win in 49 years. Another team like that does not exist.
I'm getting bad on names, but with respect to Mr. Ford. His very first move as an owner was to dump the coach who brought us that championship in 1957. Mr Ford brought in his own man, Harry Wilson, and the coach he dumped (can't think of his name) went on to Miami, and was responsible for bringing in Bob Griese, Jim Kiick, and about half of the team that went 14-0 in 1972. With coach Wilson, the Lions never finished better than 4th. With Ford as the owner, it's never gotten better.
I know there's no team in Hockey or Basketball with such futility. With Baseball, I don't think there's a team with that kind of record. You may find one, but you're going to have to dig pretty deep.
And it's not the Red Sox either. They have been in the playoffs more than the Lions. It's just not winning the championships, it's the one playoff win, and also, being in the playoffs only 8 times in those 49 years.
You have to find a team that has gone at least 49 years, never won a championship, has only won one playoff game (or series) and been in the playoffs less than 8 times in those 49 years.
Then you have a team that is more inept than the Lions.
And for you Arizona fans... The Lions have been in Detroit since 1932.

Of all-time, no. But in this century? You bet...keeping Matt Millen ALONE makes this team the most inept. More inept than the KC Royals (who spend 55 million on GIL MECHE?!?), more inept than the salary slashing Florida Marlins that fire the MANAGER OF THE YEAR, more inept than the New York Knicks who have the highest salaried team in basketball and nothing to show for it.

No! At any given time, any team in any sport can be considered inept...look at Cleveland Cavs...or how about LA Clippers...for years they were the biggest jokes in basketball.
As to Millen quitting, that just makes him stubborn, selfish, and perhaps even a little greedy. Used to say same about Bengals Mike Brown (just because he was Paul Brown's son didn't make him even remotely qualified to manage team!). Fortunately, he finally took his head out his a$$ and listened to someone else who knew a little something and hired a good coach...and more importantly, let him BE the coach, instead of thinking he knew it all and the Bengals have improved dramatically!

The only way the Lions will never improve is to leave Detroit. There's nothing wrong with the city, they just need a new start in a new town.

The Arizona Cardinals probably give the Lions a good run for their money, as they have made the playoffs only once since 1982, the year I was born.

A tie between Detroit and Arizona, both for some reason just can not put it together, but keep in mind pro teams are just a few trades away from being contenders,so there is hope.

i imagine the lions are worse. look on the injuries Cleveland had, they were all the way down to their 4th string qb. and they'd a harder agenda than the lions, any crew that performs contained in the NFC North receives off basic. And in case you position the perfect gamers on both communities up hostile to Pittsburgh i imagine that Pittsburgh might want to win, because it would want to really be Cleveland hostile to Pittsburgh because the lions haven't any strong gamers.
