soccer is a game of passion, love for a team, the drive to win, strategy, and balls...for americans, a sport is a way to get drunk and spent money...all about money....in my opinion, americans will never get the real soccer fever because:
1) is all about money and not the love of the sports..americans lack passion, if you watch mls games, they are mostly filled with latinos in the stands
2) soccer is a strategic and hard sport...too hard and complicated for americans
3) americans are hard to adjust to other cultures....soccer is from europe and latin america...it will never be popular here in the states...
in order for soccer to be real popular here, you need to take a sample from other countries, as argentina, where soccer is a religion and not a sport. people miss their own weddings to go to soccer games and they will die for their team...whenever we see that here, thats when soccer will be popular...
p.s. FOR ALL YOU SOCCER HATERS, I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU PLAY A 90' GAME..SEE IF YOU LAST, OR EVEN PLAY....I'VE PLAYED AMERICAN FOOTBALL B4, AND ALL THOSE PADS AND PROTECTION MAKE IT SO EASY...THANKS THAT I PLAYED SOCCER, I HAD THE STAMINA TO PLAY THE WHOLE GAME...EASILY DONE

I don't know why America football is called football, nor do I care. However your contention about the origins of soccer are incorrect it was not an english invention. Similar games have been played throughout history all over the world, with the earliest recorded form of the game dating back to 1500 BC and the Mesoamerican Olmecs. No matter, your indictment of Americans based on their games shows an underlying dislike of American culture, and Americans in general. So, since you want to talk about semantics, why don't just call a spade a spade and say I don't like Americans.

Probably never. It's been played in America since the early 1900's and is ingrained in the US culture. "Soccer" popularity is growing in the US, but it will never replace American football. There is professional sports year round, Football, Baseball, Basketball & Hockey. Add in golf, tennis, bowling etc., there's almost no more room for another professional sport. The influx of immigrants arriving in America is contributing to the rising popularity of "soccer", however, those same immigrants are also discovering American football.

Sorry, but while American football is different (I wouldn't necessarily call it a "girls' game"....I know very few 250-350 lbs females with thighs and arms the size of tree trunks) from Eurpean football aka soccer, it will always be around.

Never. Not when the American football brings in hundreds of millions of dollars for a 16 game season each and every year. European football in the USA can't even put 10,000 people in the stadiums. The most likely event is that European football will disappear like it has in the past from being a professional sport.

They like to see lots of goals. The American psyche could not contemplate a game which lasts for 90 minutes, but which ends with no score. They'd want their money back.
Americans like Razamatazz, there is not enough of it in soccer.
A curious thing also is that Americans don't like to be injured ( who can blame them) and they can't really understand a contact sport where the only protective equipment is shinpads.

We have to play girl football, we are to sqeamish to play football the way real men do, what if someone got kicked in the knee, Soccer players are so macho compared to our sissy football players, who cares if we have a 4.5% unemployment rate its not soccer, so what if our enconomy is the best in the world and our military is the best and we have lots of nuclear bombs, we are at war with an enemy that hide behind women and use children as bombs. We just removed Sadaam and his regime ended the cold war and how many people have we freed from the Nazis communist and Islamic murderers and rapist thugs. Its not like playing soccer. We are just cowards. Whatever,

Face it, soccer will never be big in the US. The game is to slow and boring and will never have more than a very limited fan base. Keep the inept game in Europe where it belongs.
