You will need to get a router. I recommend getting one that supports both wireless and at least 4 wired connections.

To hook up the router, plug your broadband modem into the router;. Then the loose end of the wire that used to go from the Broadband modem to your PC into the router. Use the disk/CD that came with the router, to configure your PC.

If your laptop did not come with a wireless card, you'll need to get one and hook it up and configure your laptop to use your wireless network.

If you do not understand the networking terms, I recommend getting "Networking for Dummies". It will explain how to set up your network. It will also address setting up network security. You do not want someone hacking your network.

It may sound hard, but it really isn't. Good luck to you and Happy Computing!

Get a wireless router. Set it up on your PC and configure your laptop to access the internet via the wireless connection. Always password protect your wireless connection. Mine was very easy to set up - I was online less than half an hour after getting my new laptop + wireless router home from the shop. You will need a wireless card though, but the instructions for the router were very clear and a wizard did most of it anyway, and I was prompted to set up the password during the process. The wireless connection works even when the PC is switched off.

If you have Sky TV you can get Sky Broadband with a free router but you have to have a Wireless Network Adapter for your laptop or if your laptop is Intel Centriono or AMD Turion which has a wireless card built-in like the HP Pavillion dv2000.
