neophyte writer needs help?

it was recently that i discovered that i have passion for writing. now, the problem is that i need hints and advices for me to improve my "love", for me to win in some contests, and for me to have an interesting topic/ ideas. can anyone spare me some?

Read as much as you can. that way you can see what other people are doing whats popular whats missing from the book market out there. What stories arent being told? What could i do better or differnet. It will also help you learn the basic structures for stories and novels.

The best things to write about is things you know, your life experiences. Just keep writing.
