It depends partially on what you're planning on using your gaming device for. The DS lite is gaming only while the PSP plays music and movies as well. Although the PSP does do these extra things, however, it has limited memory and to hold substantial amounts of music on it you will need to buy extra memory in addition to the already pretty hefty price. The games and movies for the PSP also tend to be more expensive than DS games. Another con of the PSP is that it's screen is always exposed whereas the DS lite closes. The touch screen on the DS can be a lot of fun and there's a great game selection of both old and new games. The only reason I would recommend getting the PSP over the DS is if you really would like to play games, watch movies, and listen to music all on one device and you are willing to put in the extra cash. For just gaming though, the DS is the best.

The PSP is better. Although it's more expensive than the Nintendo DS, you get your money back on graphics and a lot of extra features like Wi-Fi, or you can use it as an mp3 player. Meanwhile, the DS has a Gameboy facade, which to all individuals, is a game system. Also, the PSP's graphics are superb compared to the DS. The only cons of the PSP are a) expensive add-ons b) expensive games. The DS' advantages are it's accessories/games are way cheaper. If you're not much of a graphics afficionado, then go for the DS.

PSP definitely. The PSP can View Photos, Listen to Music, Play games and surf the web. The PSP has many more games to choose from than the DS. The PSP has better internet than the DS also. The cool thing about the DS is that it has 2 screens.

the psp. i disgree with the person that says the screen is exposed, you need expensive memory card, and the games cost to much. you can get a psp, several good games, a memory stick duo, and a screen protector and case for under $300. the ds lites get really old really qwik. i sold mine after only 1 month, because i wasn't willing to buy a new game after i beat the one i just got 5 days ago. the psp games have replay value, and are of better quality, and more immersive. the ds lite would only be good for ages 10 and under, but any older, especially teenagers and adults would want a psp. please rate my answer the best if you find it that way.

It really depends on your opinion towards gaming. If you like better graphics, than you need the Sony PSP. If you prefer better gaming experiences, you need the Nintendo DS.
In my personal opinion, I like the DS better.
