Inventions are not big right now.
Services are far more needed in the business world. Go out and explore in your area what is not being done that people might like to have done.
An example would be in your area there is a lack proper hauling being done (People leaving discarded thinsg by the curb or alley but no one EVER picks them up). You could with make fast money by doing it for them.
Other ideas will come to you if you just walk around your town.
