my teahcer/freinds mom is in the hospital and is not expected to make it out....this struck me as odd cause the other day she was fine....talking joking laughing and more.....but now she is in there and is one of the worst in pittsburgh....there are bloodclots all throughout her body and arterys have exploded....how do i tell my friend that i am here whenever she needs me....or do you think it is too early

Just tell her You will be there for her if/when she needs you (no matter what). No need to sugar-coat the situation... wouldn't you be there for her even if her mom wasn't in the hospital? That's what friends do. Now go, and be a great friend.

I'm not trying to be a smarty pants or anything, but if you are a true friend, you should always be there for her when needed. The hard part is trying not to be selfish and wonder how this situation will effect you. Not to be crass or insulting, but your question does smack of an ulterior motive. It is always a good time to support a real friend. Go with your heart and not you head on this one.
