Since when has ticket sales a week before the game been a barometer for success? As I have said many, many times before on this forum, the majority of Chelsea fans these days are plastic. No one dislikes them more than us real supporters who have actually had to suffer the ignominy of relegation, for example, something Arsenal fans have never experienced. But this whole debate is getting boring. I think everyone agrees that Chelsea are, at the very least, highly unpopular.
Returning to the point, what have ticket sales got to do with it? It's not that long since all you had to do was turn up on a Saturday afternoon and pay at the turnstiles. And, lest we forget, in the 1980s when our biggest club, Liverpool, were winning everything, they were averaging gates of just over 30,000 at Anfield. These days, Chelsea are averaging over 41,000 and the ground holds 42,000.
Finally, how do you define 'big club' and how do Arsenal fit into that bracket? Domestically, they've won a lot but in terms of European competition they've won precisely two trophies, the same as Chelsea! And you can't move in North London without listening to Arsenal 'fans' spouting libellious bullsh*t despite many of them never having attended a game in their lives. And this is a fact because I know quite a few of them.

Money can transform a football club into a big club but Chelsea will never earn much respect or be as storied as teams like Liverpool, Man United and Barcelona. Chelsea will just be known as a rich club who have become big but lack the history of other big clubs

What makes a big club ?

Attendance, fan base, loyalty of supporters, awards & prizes, longevity.

What do Chelsea have ? Lots of money, enough world class players for 2 teams, big mouth manager, prawn sandwich brigade supporters.

Big Club ? Not for another 20 years if the money lasts that long

i'm not a chelsea fan but i feel chelsea will rule the world within 5 years, they have the money where most other team have a budget.

look at arsenal they have over £250 million of debts! so they have no chance of being taken over by a billionaire!

arsenal was lucky to to in the champions league this season (thanks to west ham beating tottenham on the last day of the season)

manu only have 1 player and thats ronaldo, the other are good but ronaldo is world class, carrick is not good enough!

So chelsea has nobody to worry about!

they are not a big club if they didnt have the money they woulnt be were they are now big clubs have to have a big history and chelsea doesnt if abramovich keeps his money in then maybe in 10 years they might start gettin rep for being a big club.
but right now its like there playing jenga with credit cards and as soon as abramovich pulls his out its all going to fall down they will have to sell there players and mourinho will leave and they wont have anything and probaly lose fans as there fans arent the fans who stay with them through all there fans are people who like them because there rich and supposdly the best which there not liverpool have a very good fan base.

I heard a roumer that abramovich (as of next season) isn't fawking out any more cash fo them. If Chelsea are considered a big club and the abramovich roumer is true then they won't be a big club for many more years.

Infact we could be seeing another Leeds United...........but worse..........??

But we still fill up our stadium every home game and they are sold out months in advance..... I wouldnt go to the bridge for free!!!!!
