there is atleast 100 disabled parking places at my local Tescos, which are nearly always full, yet i have not seen ONE wheel chair and only ONE old guy with a walking stick in the store. Does the government give too many of the "bad back brigade" benefits and parking permits? are they taking the piss??

Im sorry if the real disabled people are not getting rightful parking space!! Im saying that theres alot of people who are given disabled status, who can run, skip and dance and have no problem walking down to the pub, then walking up hanging drunk!!

Totally agree with you. There are too many scroungers nowadays that are getting benefits for being 'disabled'. When really they are not. I also observe a lot of 'disabled' orange badge holders, that would rather park quite a distance away from markets/shops in order not to have to pay car park fees. Then just get out of the car and walk merrily along like any 'normal' person would. I think Tony B-liar and his government are taking us for idiots, we are the ones who are having to work to keep these scroungers in the comfort they want. PS. Genuinely disabled people do exist, so i am not knocking them,, but the 'scroungers' out there know what i am talking about.

I know where you are coming from here, I have difficulty with my walking because of spine damage (bad back brigade) but at least I can walk, and will keep on walking for as long as I can, but I do not park in the disabled parking bays, and do not posses a disabled card for my car, and when I see some of these people who are much fitter or more able than myself I feel just the same as you do, but hey what can you do?

Bear in mind that just because someone looks normal, doesn't mean they're not disabled.

I have a pal with Multiple Sclerosis who looks fine and walks fine, but if they spend too long on their feet (i.e. hiking an extra few minutes to and from the shops becasue some selfish person has parked in last the 'orange' badge space) then they may not be able to walk the following day... Some diseases are like that, and do give rise to (valid) comments like this.

Motor Neurone disease can take people similarly, and cerebral palsy isn't always obvious to the unobservant.

I expect most of the time the parking bays are full of selfish lazy people who don't have the disabled badge and are taking the spaces from people who actually need them, and who then can't get to the shop easily because someone's parked in their space!

;)

How do you determine if a person disabled? By a wheel chair or cane? How do you tell a person that has had 8 heart attacks and if they walk too far, they could have another and die? How can you tell if a person has asthma, but doesn't need oxygen most of the time? Just because you can't see a wheel chair or cane, does not mean the person does not deserve to park in handicap parking. Bad backs, hips, knees and feet are just some of the "can't tell" disabilities.

People take the piss because they're too stupid or unreasonable to understand that the most important thing about the disabled and parent & child parking spaces is not their proximity to the store but the extra space allowed. Try getting in and out of your car using a wheelchair when in a standard width parking space. Try getting your baby seat in the car with your newborn. You can't leave babe in the trolley whilst you pull the car out.

Totally agree with you. I can't walk without crutches and then not far. Trying to avoid being in a wheelchair. Can't find a disabled parking space coz some bozo who can do cartwheels has pinched the space but has a badge. I asked one of these morons why he'd got a badge and he said he was a nominated driver and the badge was for his wife who wasn't with him at the time. He said he couldn't be bothered parking in a normal space coz it was raining. That is abuse of the sysyem.

There will always be those that "flout" the rules. That said, some people have disabilities that are not visible to others. Arthritis,Multiple Sclerosis are just two that cause some to have good days and bad. Some days they can walk distances others they cannot. One does not always need a wheel chair, or walking stick to be disabled.

What annoys me is the Parent and Child parking. We are unable to have children. I think that we are being discriminated against!
