I have had my two best friends die at 34 and 42. Life goes on no matter who dies and that's the way it is and will always be.
Sometimes I wonder why we struggle for everything and in the end we end up in a box anyway.

I used to ask myself that question often but I see no point in it anymore. Our existence is much like the ants scurrying around on the sidewalk, we are born, we struggle through life and then we die.

Thank you for a really great question!!

Life is indeed such a great phenomenon that even the certainty of death can not dampen the spirits for any sustained period.

I sometimes feel that life is such a great phenomenon not because of the opportunities for achievement nor due to the pleasures and joys it can offer every once in a while, it is so great merely on account of the long rope of hope it provides to hold on to at every moment of disaster or disappointment. It is this ever renewing hope that makes time the great healer it is.

Yes... there are those moments when we ask ourselves whether this is all there is... but the moments do not last long enough to cause one detest the life... every time the thought reverts to positive intent and action driven by renewed or fresh hope!!

Well, my life has never been either so dull or depressed that I had to ask that question. My life has always been rich with options and opportunities for joy, love, personal growth, etc. I try not to focus on death that much.

Look at it this way.

I recently saw a TV special on spirituality, which included a section on believers vs atheists. The atheist position was interesting, in that they basically said,"IF...there is no afterlife, and IF....(as you suggest) 'this is all there is,' " then we should make the most of life, because that's the only chance we get.

Instead of thinking of life as a "struggle" (unless, for whatever reason that's what it is for you), think of life as unlimited options.

I've always told people that they were the captain of their own ship, the director of their own play, and that if they were'nt happy or satisfied with their life, to CHANGE it.

I used to know so many coworkers that - for one reason or another - were very unhappy with their job.
But, did they take any measures to change anything?
No.

Im not very sure of that. All we need to do is lean more. This world is in deep **** and nobody seems to care! We see an animal die off or something like that and its just a joke to some people, I feel sad for any animal that dies... and when a human dies everyone freaks out! This world need to be safe from distruction.. that is all that matters!

Yes, a lot lately... I am 33.
This year I had a baby, and suddenly I find myself taking stock: Is this really it? I love her, my family, and friends--- but all this seems kind of stupid. It's almost like we as a society have gotten off track. We work for a bunch of stuff that in the end is meaningless. We eat a bunch of stuff that ultimately is killing us. We love a bunch of people who hurt us.... Then we die.

Because the box isn't the end. If you and they believe that Jesus suffered, died and rose again with all power in his hands then you'll see them again. This life is just a waiting room.

Possibly ones needs to contemplate the age old question: Why are we here? Our society no longers respects the great thinkers of time, but rock stars and Hollywood icons.

I look for purpose in my life.

Yes, we will all end up in a box. Enjoy it while you can and make this life what you want it to be.

well thats the way life is......... totally unfair..... every living being be it a bird or a human is born, lives and dies. there is no point questioning life's existence. ever thought what would remain if there were no earth, stars, planets and even vaccum didn't exist......... just what would you say remains.........
to tell you the truth there is no answer to your question

Yep, I ask myself that sometimes. You are gonna get a ton of god and the afterlife answers from the disillusioned christians with this one, my friend. Personally, I look forward to the day they cremate me and scatter my ashes and I get my eternal rest. Ahhh, no more struggles and day to day rat race. It will be pleasant I think.
