My husband and I have recently adopted my neice needless to say it was the best thing we have ever done. We Love her as if she was our own. In my heart she is MY daughter. So we have realized this is how we want to make our family grow. By adopting more children in need of a home. This world is over populated enough as it is. it is our duty to these children as people of this world to take care of them. I know not everyone is cut out for it. But the few of us that do have it in our hearts to adopt think that it shouldn't cost as much as it does. The thing is that ALL of the $$$ went to some greety lawyer and that IS what kills me is that he walked away ten + thousand dollars richer and we obviously walked away with a priceless jewel, but struggle to make ends meet. When that money could have gone to her college fund or something like that. What can we do to try and change the laws to where these lawyers aren't the ones walking away with our money.??????

I share your mentality, I get where you're coming from.

BUT~ we can always skip the lawyer process. In some established orphanage, they have connections to legal authorities who'll take care of the paperwork. These people are payed minimum fees. I guess that's why not a lot of them are doing it. I thik the government should really look into alocating more of these minimum-fees workers to orphanages.

Hey Prof, I really liked that song. I actually hadn't heard it before, since I have yet to hear Brighten the Corners. I'm not sure about my all time favorite Pavement tune. I really love In the Mouth a Desert, and there's a quite a few from Wowee Zowee that would probably make my top 10 (Best Friends Arm, Pueblo, Extradition etc). As for favorite album, I'm pretty sure it's Wowee Zowee, but like I said I still have to hear Brighten the Corners (as well as Terror Twilight).

You must be looking at private adoption agency's. That's where the higher costs are, If you look into adopting kids from your state through (Call the welfare department for the place in your area) foster care programs its a lot cheaper or even free. In fact 9 out of 10 times the state is paying you for adopting.

I agree, I think if you are going to adopt a child, it shouldnt cost money, it should cost time. Lots of interviews and checks (not cheques) Im interested to know how they justify the amount. Imagine how many genuine loving families would adopt if they could afford to.

I would.

Well done, i hope you are happy together (i can tell you care)
Unfortunately only the government in your country can change the law, you would not want a child to fall into the wrong hands.
Good luck.
