You know, I like your question. I grew up in a "melting pot" community as a child and I learned that people can be good or bad and it has NOTHING to do with their skin. I encountered racism at an early age and it was not pretty. My best friends were black and my apt. super called them every name in the book because we were playing in the hall. He had no problem with me playing in the hall, but he threw them out. Then as a teen I moved to what appeared to be a "white bread" world, to where there was no mixed ethnicities. When I wanted to invite my friends to visit, my mother said it wasn't a good idea because of where we lived(my mother wasn't racist, but she was concerned as to what the neighbors would think, which is BS). I lost the best friends I ever had. My own grandmother had issues back then too. I know she learned a lesson or two from me and from where she moved to because she doesn't call people certain names anymore. It would be nice if more people had an open minded perspective on this subject.

Hey...almost all black people used to be good until the 70's when our country degenerated into a moral decay.

I saw this on the news this morning, what a superb selfless act and he deserves all he was awarded. His family should be proud.
