Ban Ki-Moon takes office in the UN. He says that Darfur is on top of his priorities. I really hope that he can end the genocide, and I believe that he can. What does the Yahoo! Answers community think, is this problem solved?

Far from it. Even he does decided to help(at this point I am skeptical about anyone who says they want to play hero with this particular problem) it will take a very long time before this will ever be solved.

He can't change or influence the hatred in others hearts. Same today in the west and racism. No matter how hard he tries(if he tries), when he puts aside as much of the bureaucratic b.s. as possible what will he do? He can't stop people from hating each other. Is he going down there to call a cease fire only for it to start up again when the UN troops have to pull out? Possibly causing a situation similar to the crisis in Iraq?

If what kipneldy(previous answer) said is true it would be like trading one form of evil for another. The women wont care who rapes them. They just know that they are being raped and that it is painful even it is by representatives of the organization that is trying to help them.

What ever he does it wont be another cut and solve solution that will be done with in a few years. It has to be a very detailed systematic plan. Hopefully the effects of what he will do will be felt soon so that more families will never have to experience what so many already have.

If it involves blacks, africans, arabs and muslims... watch out! there is NO long term solution only interim truce enforced by UN-type peacekeepers.
