My doctor has suggested that I take this for my feet and knee problems. Glucosamine/chondroitin has shellfish in it. Unfortunately, I have a shellfish allergy that requires me to have an epi pen. Do any of you out there have the same issue or know of anyone who has this that has any other ideas?

Now Foods makes a Glucosamine supplement that is vegetarian. Costs a bit more, but well worth it to alleviate your concerns. Ask your health food store to order it for you. You'd have to take the Chondroitin separately, as I don't think this product has it.

BTW, we've been told by several companies that there is no known reaction to the shellfish part used in the manufacture of Glucosamine. What they use is the little elastic hinge that holds the animal's shell together - a part we don't usually consume.

And, your body manufactures glucosamine from MSM - available in supplement form and also in sulphuric foods like broccoli & cabbage, onions & garlic. You could get relief from taking MSM & Chondroitin, but it will be a little slower.

Glucosamine/chondroitin never helped my arthritis problems anyways so don't worry about taking it. I tried the combo numerous times over several years and the only thing I ever noticed was a smaller wallet when I was using this combo. If you have arthritis pain, buy some generic naproxen but don't take over 2-3 daily.

I have found glucosamine hydrochloride has far better effects.
