my car is a time machine
when ever i go someplace in it, when i get to my destination, it is later than when i left
never ceases to amaze me

This depends on what you mean by a time machine. We are all moving forward in time at the rate of 24 hours every day. If you went off on a journey at a large fraction of the speed of light and returned, more time would have passed on earth than what you experienced so in a sense you travelled forward in time.

The trick is to go backward in time. This would cause what is known as a 'causal loop'. While there are theoretical predictions that such things could happen in very unusual circumstances, none has ever been seen in the real world and most scientists believe it is impossible. Unless and until something is seen that shows anything at all undergoing a causla loop, there is no chance of building a time machine of that sort.

I don't think a machine could be built but according to Einstein's theories, it is possible to witness past events as they happen. This is a very different idea from actually going back in time, but he claimed that at a theoretical level, you could see a past event for yourself. Let's say you wanted to witness an event that happened 20 years ago. According to the theory all you would have to do is locate a point in space 20 light-years away and build a rocket ship that could get you there in a few minutes. From that vantage point you could focus a very VERY strong telescope back from where you came just as the light that reflected off that event made it to the point in space where you are. What you would see is the actual event as it happened. If effect you would have witnessed an event that happened 20 years ago.

No a time machine will not work, but WE can go through time, rather part of us can and does, all the time.

We can make a helper machine to allow us to travel more readily though. I don't know but I know we can.

Time is a dimension so we would have to cross through the dimensions and from there we could go back. The only way possible is to travel fast enough to rip a dimensional hole which technically could not be possible. By the way scientist say there are 10 dimensions.

if we get in a ship and approach the speed of light and appear in the future, without having aged ourselves. if we could bring a wormhole with us then that would be it - you could step back through (or let others in with you). travel into the past is impossible (why have we not been visited by anyone from the future?)

It's been said that a wormhole can be a time machine if the exit can be moved while your in it. So find a wormhole

How can you travel to something that hasn't occured, if you believe in time travel then you must accept the believe that your life is predestine and you have no control on what will happen

The only way of 'travelling through time' is to go forward. You can travel at near light speeds which slow down your own perception of time - and you arrive in the future without growing much older. But there's no going back.

I read some whacked out thing where it said that time travel could only be possible if it were invented at every point in time. Don't know how they came to that conclusion, but there ya go.

A t.i.m.e machine has already been bulit; thanks to your eve, of imagnation. However, we will control where the machine takes you, until you are wise enough to plot your own destined course. Do you agree?
